The Trust currently has ten voluntary Trustees. All of the SHBT Trustees are also company directors. SHBT calls on the five staff of the Alba Conservation Trust which include the director, project staff and financial staff. As at February 2006, SHBT's board comprised:

Anne Riches

Architectural Historian, Former Commissioner RCHAMS.

Charles Guest

Senior Partner, Rydens.

David Reith (Company Secretary)

Managing Partner, Lindsays WS. Trustee and Company Secretary ACT, CCT.

George McNeill (Chair)

Former Director of Planning, West Lothian Council.

James Simpson

Architect & Partner, Simpson & Brown.

John Gerrard

Former Technical Director, Scottish Civic Trust.

Oliver Barratt

Conservationist, former Secretary, Cockburn Association, Trustee of CCT.

Ted Ruddock

Civil Engineer, Architectural Historian.

The Trustees meet bi-monthly to review the Trust's operations, to set project priorities, and to review financial matters. At least two Trustees are nominated to have special responsibility – as 'Lead Trustees' - for each project under consideration. Trustees may also be called upon to give specific advice on a project if necessary. The Chairman works with the staff on all the projects and reviews the Trust's financial situation on a monthly basis.
